Loughrea-Courtyard Garden

Approximately 6 years following major renovation and extension works to this lakeside house in Loughrea, we we’re commissioned to design two courtyard garden spaces and a main dining patio.

The brief was to tie the design into the contemporary extension and an existing paved space carried out during the renovation works. Often retro-fitting into existing features can be trickier than starting with a blank canvas and the requirement to have flush access at all doors was trickier than normal with varying low window heights and door levels between spaces.

A material palette of Irish Limestone paving with exposed fossils custom cut to specific sizes for all wall and paving surfaces along with bespoke cedar panels with stainless steel wires and climbers.

A bespoke Built-in BBQ and Kitchen unit were incorporated into the space with Stainless Steel Storage Presses beneath.

Lush Planting of Ornamental Grasses, Box Balls and Colorful perennials tie the spaces together.
