I was recently commissioned to design this long narrow garden in Clontarf, Co. Dublin. The Property had been renovated about 6 years ago with a new extension to the rear. The garden wasn’t functioning as either an adult garden or a child friendly garden and both of these items were top priorities in my clients brief.
The dramatic change in level from floor to garden of approx 1meter posed a challenge in creating usable space in which the family could enjoy and entertain in while allowing enough space for the kids to play ball and run around.
The Design sees a new retaining wall with a new granite patio in the upper level and steps to the lower garden which was rationalised with new boundary hedging, cobble border and an artifical grass surface.
The upper patio level is screened on both sides by a new cedar clad fence to give privacy to the garden.
